Coach,

I'm a 28 year-old male player who's just returned to playing organized basketball in a fairly competitive community league. For the past couple of years, I've been playing at a local Y, where defence calls fouls and we rarely call traveling. Apparently, I've picked up a bad habit because the refs in the community league are calling me for traveling often - like twice a game. I play the wing and am mostly a catch and shoot guy, but when I put the ball on the floor and go to my right I guess I'm picking-up my pivot foot before I let go of the ball. If I throw in a shot fake, I also get in trouble for traveling.

This seems like something that I would be able to solve by just being conscious of it, but it's proved difficult. I guess I've really developed the bad habbit. It's also tough because I don't have access to a coach to work on it with me in a practice setting. Do you have any suggestions: drills, over-correction strategies, things for me to think about, etc.?

A thoughtful answer would be appreciated.
