Pass Tag Drill

Home > Coaching > Drills > Passing > Pass Tag Drill
This is a fun passing drill that is great for warm up and teamwork. It teaches your players communication and the importance of developing a strategy.
The drill begins with 10 people. Designate 2 people to be on offense. Offense will wear white. The other will be on defense and wear black. The offense can not dribble or run with the ball. The defense can move anywhere on the court.
Frame 1
The offense must try to tag a defensive player. The goal of the defense is to avoid being tagged.
Frame 2
If a player is tagged, he/she switches to white and joins the offense. The game continues until all players have been tagged.
Frame 3
This drill can be played using the full court or reduced in size to the half court or a smaller area. It can also add a dimension by adding a second ball or adding or reducing the number of people. This drill requires strategy and communication.  Players will struggle until they learn to utilize a strategy.  Use this as a teaching opportunity.
