Half Court Ball Movement
This drill teaches passing and movement. Your players will learn ball reversals and how to attack the paint with a pass.
The drill is played in the half court and involves 10 players, 5 on offense and 5 on defense. Players are not allowed to dribble or move with the ball. They must only pass. Screening is allowed and players without the ball can move freely.
The goal of the drill is not to try and score a basket. The offense scores 1 point by reversing the ball from one side of the court to the other or by passing to a player who has two feet inside the lane.
If the defense creates a turnover, they must first pass the ball to a coach and then they become offense.
Drill Variations
- Add one or two permanent post players
- Add a shot clock (ex 35 seconds). Once the shot clock gets to 8 seconds, players can dribble and must score before time expires to get their points.
- Give points for defensive stops.
- Add motion offense rules (ex: must fill spots, screen after each pass, etc)
