Lead Instructor - Tyrone Whipple
Tyrone is a basketball instructor with over 30 years of coaching experience. He owns and operates a developmental sports academy, Impact Sports, out of Fort Morgan, Colorado. In addition, he has a degree in Physical Education and a passion for teaching the game of basketball to players of all ages and skill levels and improving the lives of youth through character-based athletic development.
Tyrone works as an Athletic Director, Activities Coordinator, and senior coach counselor at a residential charter school and treatment facility for adjudicated youth. Tyrone has worked in youth corrections for over 30 years.
As a player, he was a standout three sport athlete in high school and two sport athlete in college. He played under the legendary Hall of Fame Coach Dan McKiernan at Palmer High School in Colorado Springs. Coach McKiernan ignited Tyrone's passion for being a developmental coach when he let him work as a volunteer assistant at his Pikes Peak area camp.
Tyrone's most memorable coaching memory was as an assistant at Resurrection Christian in 2019-2020 under future Hall-of-Fame coach and mentor Bruce Dick. Tyrone proved himself to be an invaluable asset to the team and helped lead the team to 25-0.
He has assisted at numerous Breakthrough Basketball camps over six years before making the much deserved transition to Lead Coach
