Lead Instructor - Chris Barnette

Hailing from Raleigh, NC, Chris Barnette honed his skills at Ravenscroft School, emerging as a standout player with 1st team all-state honors and securing the conference player of the year title in his senior year. Outside of High School ball, Chris further developed his skills with an AAU team, the NC Runnin’ Rebels, significantly increasing his visibility among college coaches, resulting in multiple Division 2 offers along with an offer from a Division 1 program.

His collegiate career saw him making impactful strides across different divisions. Starting at NCAA Division 2's Mars Hill University in Asheville, NC, Chris showcased his talents by earning a spot in the starting lineup halfway through his freshman season. Transitioning to NCAA Division 3's Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA, he not only amassed over 1,000 points, 400 rebounds, and 300 assists but also secured impressive 3rd, 2nd, and 1st team all-conference honors over three stellar seasons, culminating in a Sports Management degree upon graduation.

Chris took advantage of his extra Covid year by playing at NCCAA Division 2's Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA. There, Chris earned accolades including 1st team all-conference and 1st team All-American. Chris’s basketball journey is a testament to God’s hand in his life, his dedication on the court, and all the amazing coaches and people who have helped him along the way. 

Presently situated in the Ankeny area alongside his wife Janet, Chris is deeply involved in the basketball scene. As the Graduate Assistant for the men's basketball team at Faith Baptist Bible College, he's pursuing a master's degree while also serving as a local basketball trainer, sharing his expertise and passion for the game with aspiring athletes.

Beyond basketball, Chris has a passion for adventure, and his enthusiasm for sports extends far beyond the court, enriching his life both personally and professionally. Chris has years of playing, personal training, and camp coaching experience and is excited to be working with Breakthrough Basketball where he can further his passion for helping young athletes reach their full potential on and off of the court.
