Ayana McWilliams finished her first season as head coach of the Golden Eagles with plenty of success. LCCC made their deepest run in the Region IX tournament, making it to the semi-finals to cap off a 18-12 season. 

McWilliams comes to LCCC after spending four seasons as the head coach at Lincoln University, an NCAA Division II program, in Jefferson City, Mo. from 2016-2020. McWilliams coached Lincoln to its best start in program history in 2018-19 coaching the Blue Tigers to a 9-2 record in the first 11 games of the season. McWilliams guided the Blue Tigers to seven straight wins to open the season, including road wins over Southern Arkansas and Northwest Missouri.

Prior to Lincoln, McWilliams spent five seasons as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level at the University of South Carolina Upstate. While at USC-Upstate, McWilliams was part of a staff that led the Spartans to the best season program history, winning 22 games in 2015-16. During McWilliams time in Spartanburg, S.C., the Spartans made two trips to the post-season, reaching the WBI semifinals in 2016.

McWilliams started her playing career at East Carolina from 2001-2003 before transferring to Brevard College. While at Brevard, McWilliams became the program’s all-time leader in assists (296) and steals (288) while averaging 16.5 points per game, the second-highest scoring average in program history.

McWilliams earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Brevard College in 2005 and received a master’s degree in Sports Management/Sports Coaching from the United States Sports Academy.
